We were just two long-distance motorcycle adventurers wanting to share the feeling of freedom we found on the road when we started Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental in 2009. At the time, Ecuador was not well known among motorcyclists, and most transcontinental adventure riders simply passed through on their way to Alaska or Ushuaia.

Over time, we've helped put Ecuador on the map as a top adventure-riding destination in South America. We plan to keep doing that as we welcome more riders from around the world.

While multinational tour companies have added Ecuador to their catalogs, we remain focused on one country. That allows us to concentrate on providing the best possible experience here as a small, boutique, local operator.

Why Boutique?

We call ourselves a "boutique operator" because we offer highly specialized services and focus exclusively on creating the best possible experience in one country. We know the word "boutique" may sound braggadocious, pretentious, or even expensive, but nothing could be further from the truth.

For us, boutique means focused, local, personal, and flexible. It means knowing Ecuador deeply rather than trying to operate everywhere.

Local Relationships Matter

Being small means we can spend more time focusing on people and building relationships. We have thousands of guided and self-guided tours in Ecuador under our belt.

By returning to the same places over and over, we've developed deep and meaningful relationships in the communities along our routes. Our relationships with hoteliers, restaurateurs, artisans, and activity providers are not one-off business arrangements. We are treated as friends and family wherever we go, and by extension, our riders benefit from those long-term relationships.

These partners treat our riders like the VIPs they are. We've also developed exclusive partnerships that allow us to include hotels and activities that are difficult to access through larger operators.

Better Value Through Focus

Our focused model also helps us control costs. We don't have to fly guides around the world to scout new destinations, and we don't need to hire outside fixers to make things work in Ecuador.

We live here year-round. We know the roads, the hotels, the restaurants, the mechanics, the communities, and the people who make the trips work.

We also use our own motorcycles and maintain and service them in-house with our mechanical staff.

We don't sell our tours through travel agencies or resellers. We work directly with our riders from the beginning, which gives us better communication and a clearer understanding of what each person wants from the trip.

That lets us put more of our resources into the experience itself: better accommodations, memorable meals, reliable equipment, and strong support without cutting corners in the name of "optimal scalability." What we do is just not scalable!

Being boutique also means we can offer different kinds of trips instead of one standard version of Ecuador.

Whether you prefer guided or self-guided riding, off-road routes, dual-sport riding, all-paved touring, or even a luxury motorcycle tour, we can match the experience to the way you like to travel.

We can also custom-tailor a ride for you. Or you can simply rent a bike and do your own thing.

Whatever you choose, we take the time to understand your riding style, goals, interests, and expectations before you head out.

A Small Team With Deep Experience

We're a small company with a passionate focus and a team that brings together local knowledge and international experience.

That mix helps us understand both Ecuador and the expectations of riders arriving from different parts of the world. We continuously reinvest in staff training so our team is knowledgeable, capable, and prepared to handle the situations that can come up during an adventure trip.

Riding With Purpose

Above all, being a small local operator means sharing and growing with the communities we travel through.

Ecuador Freedom supports multiple small businesses across the country, and we don't stop there. Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental has a long-running "Ride for Purpose" program where motorcycle travelers are encouraged to donate and deliver school supplies to remote, often cut-off communities throughout Ecuador.

We have provided school supplies to thousands of students in remote classrooms across the country and pioneered combining voluntary charitable work with motorcycle travel.

The company also funds students at the Algarrobos School in Canoa, helping them get a solid start in their academic pursuits.

Freedom also supports the American Motorcycle Relief Project through donations of rides that support veterans dealing with severe PTSD.
